Abana Books was started by DeVon Miller when the first informational book was published in 1984 while he was teaching school. After teaching for 17 years, 11 of those as principal, he left all that behind and graduated to marriage, his bride also a former teacher. Over the years, his publishing and word smithing endeavors grew along with his family of 8 children. They are Christians of the Amish Mennonite persuasion.
His own health concerns motivated him to search for ways to grow healthy food and share that message with others. That birthed a grass- fed beef operation. Aquaculture ponds were installed to grow food fish for various fish markets. In a recent year, both sheep and goats were added to the grazing operation. Each year something interesting is being constructed or added as part of the whole on his small family farm near Millersburg, OH.
His children are actively involved in the work on the farm; building and repairing fences, caring for organic crops and animals, feeding fish, and growing their own personal garden plots. Writing RFAG is the result of the author’s intense desire to rediscover and preserve natural ways of producing clean, nutrient dense food and to educate others who may be interested in the same.
